Philips OneBlade Face & Body Review
The Philips OneBlade Face + Body is one of the most heavily advertised trimmers in the world, with hundreds of thousands sold. Backed by one of the biggest companies globally, it’s a familiar name to many. The KingBalls Balls & Body Trimmer, on the other hand, is a bold newcomer from Finland that you may not yet have heard of. But can it really stand up to the OneBlade? Let’s find out.
In this article, I compare how well these two trimmers perform across different areas of the male body—especially the more sensitive zones. The goal: a clean, smooth result without cuts, pulling, ingrown hairs, or post-shave itching. I’ve tested both products myself and now give you an honest, side-by-side breakdown of how they perform in key areas.

Brands
Everyone knows Philips. Founded in 1891 in the Netherlands, it’s now one of the world’s top names in electric grooming. With nearly 20 billion euros in annual revenue, Philips is a brand people trust.
KingBalls is a newer brand from Finland. The idea began in 2022, inspired by Manscaped’s concept. It was a solid idea, but the product left room for improvement. The biggest issue was the lack of a truly safe trim for the intimate area. KingBalls set out to fix that with a trimmer built around its own dedicated blade for sensitive grooming.
By 2025, the KingBalls trimmer had evolved into a full-body grooming tool. It now features a built-in LED light, USB-C charging, travel lock, and full waterproofing. Every detail is designed to make trimming safe and effortless from head to toe.
Safety and Efficiency
Blades
The Philips OneBlade features a stainless steel blade known for its dual-sided design and fine cutting teeth. This setup allows for trimming in both directions, making the process faster by catching even the last stray hairs with back-and-forth motion. While the teeth are designed to minimize the risk of skin getting caught, the blade can still leave small scratches, especially on sensitive areas.
The KingBalls trimmer, on the other hand, uses a ceramic blade. It’s sharp, hygienic, rustproof, and holds its edge well over time. Ceramic blades provide a smooth and comfortable trimming experience, though they can be more fragile and may crack if dropped.
One limitation of the OneBlade is its narrow 3 cm blade, which can make trimming larger areas time-consuming. For instance, shaving leg hair alone can take up to 30 minutes. The KingBalls trimmer comes with a wider 4 cm blade that speeds up trimming across broader areas—while still remaining precise and manageable enough for grooming the intimate region.

The KingBalls trimmer offers interchangeable blades for different areas: beard, body & head, and intimate zone.

OneBlade’s replacement blade
I managed to nick myself with the OneBlade several times. Mainly, the OneBlade just scratched the skin, but it also made a few cuts in the intimate area. Moreover, I had to go over the same area multiple times for the blade to cut all the hair.
In contrast, careful use of the KingBalls trimmer didn’t result in any nicks or scratches, even in sensitive areas like the scrotum. For added safety, a dedicated GroinGuard™ blade is available for intimate grooming, while the standard blade can be used for the rest of the body.
The OneBlade’s blade and KingBalls’ “Shaver Head” both cut hair very close to the skin. The difference was especially noticeable when trimming hair and beard. The other blades of the KingBalls trimmer left the hair slightly longer—around just under a millimeter in length.

Motor
The Philips OneBlade is marketed with an impressive cutting speed of 12,000 strokes per minute. This is achieved through its dual-sided blade, where each side cuts at 6,000 RPM. The KingBalls trimmer operates at a similar speed, with its blade also running at around 6,000 RPM.
Despite the equal motor speed, the KingBalls trimmer delivered a noticeably smoother trimming experience—thanks to its sharp, low-friction ceramic blade.
Winner: KingBalls
Quietness
The OneBlade was impressively quiet when running, while the KingBalls trimmer sounded more like a typical hair clipper. This round definitely goes to the OneBlade.
Winner: OneBlade
Intimate Area Hair trimming
The OneBlade often caused small cuts when used on the intimate area, making it poorly suited for sensitive grooming. Using the body comb as a safety measure left the hair too long and made trimming less effective, as the guard prevented the blade from making proper contact with the skin.
In contrast, the KingBalls trimmer’s GroinGuard performed exceptionally well in intimate grooming, delivering a close shave without causing any nicks or irritation.

Trimming Body Hair
The biggest drawback of the OneBlade seemed to be the small micro-scratches it left on the skin. It also required multiple passes to fully cut all the hairs. In comparison, the KingBalls trimmer felt more effective and gentler on the skin.

On the right, the side trimmed with KingBalls’ trimmer (in green) and with the OneBlade (in red).
The stubble length was roughly the same, but the OneBlade required more passes and caused skin irritation.
The side trimmed with the OneBlade experienced itching the following day, especially noticeable during physical activity when sweat came into contact with the irritated areas.

Performance on Hair and Beard

The trimmers produced noticeably different results when trimming hair.
The OneBlade cut hair down to nearly bald—almost as close as a traditional razor. The KingBalls trimmer, by contrast, left a light stubble of just under 1 mm.
Of course, it’s a matter of opinion whether a completely bald head or a very short stubble looks better.
The same effect was seen with beard trimming: the OneBlade left a nearly clean-shaven finish, while the KingBalls trimmer left a visible stubble.
Update: Since the test, a new Shaver Head attachment has been released for the KingBalls trimmer, allowing it to cut just as close as the OneBlade.
Both trimmers include additional comb attachments for styling. With the OneBlade, you can choose from 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, and 5 mm lengths. KingBalls’ combs offer 3 mm, 6 mm, 9 mm, and 12 mm options, making it more versatile for longer hair styling.
Winner: Tie – KingBalls is better for styling hair, while OneBlade performs better on the beard.
Battery
The OneBlade’s battery and charging setup feel a bit outdated. It arrived completely uncharged and required an initial 3-hour charge. That was just enough for a single full-body trim.
The KingBalls trimmer, on the other hand, came with a pre-charged battery, so it was ready to use right out of the box. The battery lasted for 1.5 hours and recharged fully in the same amount of time. The package also included a charging dock, and the device supports USB-C charging.

Convenience and Style
Wet and Dry Use
Both trimmers are waterproof, and you can safely use them with shaving foam or gel. Just make sure neither trimmer is connected to a charger when using them in wet conditions.
Cleaning either trimmer is effortless, simply rinse under running water. Don’t forget to occasionally disinfect the blades as well, for example with denatured alcohol.
Both trimmers also provided a secure grip, even with wet hands.

Guide Combs
The KingBalls trimmer includes three guide combs: one is 1.5 mm, and the other two are double-sided, offering lengths of 3 mm and 6 mm, and 9 mm and 12 mm, respectively.
The OneBlade Face & Body model comes with 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, and 5 mm comb attachments. It also includes a protective guard specifically for body hair trimming. While this guard effectively shields the skin and helps prevent the small scratches that are common with the OneBlade, it significantly slows down the trimming process and the result is far from a smooth finish.

Additional Features
The KingBalls trimmer does not come with a charger. Instead, it connects directly to any USB charger. KingBalls justifies the exclusion of the adapter by citing environmental reasons. The OneBlade, on the other hand, includes a charger—so in this regard, OneBlade has the advantage.
The KingBalls trimmer features a battery level indicator, whereas the OneBlade only has a light that starts blinking when the battery is nearly empty. This makes it harder to keep track of the battery status on the OneBlade.
The built-in LED light on the KingBalls trimmer helps illuminate the trimming area for better precision. The package also includes an English user manual, a charging dock, blade oil and a small cleaning brush, and a charging cable. All of which the OneBlade is lacking.

Design

Both trimmers are lightweight and easy to handle. The OneBlade might feel a bit too thin, but that also makes it feel lighter in the hand. The KingBalls trimmer, on the other hand, feels more durable. The “neck” of the OneBlade, where the blade attaches, seems particularly fragile and prone to breaking.
Winner: OneBlade
Price
The OneBlade comes in many versions, and each retailer has their own pricing. The base Face & Body version starts at approximately 54 euros, while the premium Pro version can cost about 120 euros.
The KingBalls body trimmer is priced at 69,90 €.

Which Trimmer Should You Buy?
Overall, the OneBlade feels more like a beard trimmer, even though it’s marketed as a full-body device. If your main need is trimming your beard and especially for detailed styling, the OneBlade is a solid choice. However, if your goal is to shave your entire beard and achieve the shortest possible stubble, a high-quality electric shaver could be a better option.
If you’re looking for a full-body trimmer with more modern features, the KingBalls trimmer handles the job better than most alternatives. It comes with three different trimming heads for different areas and comb attachments ranging from 1.5 mm to 12 mm. Its dedicated GroinGuard for intimate grooming still seems to have no real competitor on the market.
